13 miles east of Shrewsbury and 30 miles north west of Birmingham, Telford is located in Shropshire. It is a modern, large new town with historic attractions and sights such as the Ironbridge Gorge; a scenic tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Named after civil engineer Thomas Telford, who engineered many road and rail projects, the town was create from the merger of other, small settlements. Many of the new town’s newer inhabitants were originally from Birmingham or Wolverhampton.
