The Body Test Operations BTO team plans and manages the physical prototype test properties for the Body Engineering and Vehicle Safety teams. These properties support the development of new models and anything required for current production models. A typical test properties consists of a bare body shell that is fitted with only the necessary parts, and a number of supporting 'kits' of parts.

In your first week in this Programme Support Engineer role, you can expect to:

  • Liaising with engineers to confirm body rigs plan is appropriate
  • Mapping the 'dependencies' for each property to better understand and optimise the property build timing
  • Investigating parts status per each Bill of Material and checking that they have appropriate order coverage
  • Supporting prototype build as required.

Senior ILS Engineer - Defence and Military Systems - Permanent - Attractive

A Senior ILS Engineer is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading military Systems. The successful Senior ILS Engineer will need to ensure the day-to-day management and performance/delivery for assigned projects, subcontracts, vendors and/or accounts, whilst applying a depth and breadth of experience relating to complex engineering problems, challenges and issues associated with related work packages.

The Senior ILS Engineer role requires close liaison between Engineering teams, customers, and suppliers. Significant drive and energy, strong systems engineering skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed. The Senior ILS Engineer must be a team player who is prepared to work with a multi-site engineering team within the customer community. The individual will be required to work across geographical and cultural divides to draw together a comprehensive engineering capability that will derive balanced system solutions.

Senior ILS Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Overall responsibility for the conduct of the ILS work package.
  • Coordination and supervision of a team of ILS engineers.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the supply chain with regard to ILS deliverables.
  • Practical and theoretical supportability assessments on existing and new systems.
  • Sub-Assemblies and Components Supportability & Repair Analysis, Spares & Cost Analysis.
  • Provide supportability advice to other engineering and other functional departments.
  • Working with other engineering departments to influence designs.
  • Leading and managing support specialists to produce support engineering deliverables.
  • Undertake the relevant people processes (such as performance reviews) for direct reports.
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data validation and Tech Pubs verification.
  • Define support engineering requirements for supplied items/services.
  • The evaluation of design and supplier data.
  • Production of support related data and reports
  • Working with Training capability, Support Engineers and Safety Engineers
  • Ensure that support products are ALARP.

The Senior ILS Engineer should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Post-graduate engineering experience in a suitable engineering role.
  • Must have a good understanding of the support engineering / ILS discipline (Essential)
  • Must have experience of Def-Stans and Defence Logistic Framework
  • Experience of ASD S3000L and its application to supportability analysis programmes
  • Must have a working understanding of SHE and product safety (Essential)
  • Previous experience of leading a team would be advantageous (Highly Desireable)
  • Recent British Army Armoured Fighting Vehicle management experience (Highly Desirable)
  • Good listener and communicator who effectively conveys information.
  • Computer-literate especially the Microsoft Office suite
  • Be open to new ways of resolving issues and the possibility
  • Able to incorporate new technology through research and Innovative problem-solver 
  • Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
  • Enthusiastic, knowledge-hungry learner, eager to meet challenges and new concepts

This is a 12-month contract role based in Cranfield and offers a PAYE rate of £30.78 per hour inside IR35. This role requires being on site at Cranfield 3 times a week.

As a Chassis Mechatronic Engineer, you will manage the application of global design and follow the development at the system or module level. You will work within a cross-functional global team, mainly in Japan, Germany, France, and Spain.
