Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a respected company recruit a Vehicle Mechanic for their welcoming and inclusive team. This full-time role is based at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire, and offers a salary of £37,500 to £43,500 per annum and excellent benefits.

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will support onsite customer equipment failure inspection, diagnosis, repairs, and warranty work. You'll also perform diagnostic tests and repair of military vehicles and equipment, onsite and in the field, in compliance with technical service and statutory regulations.

  • Skills and experience in the operation of automotive diagnostic equipment, diagnostic fault finding, and troubleshooting
  • Possess a C&G Heavy Vehicle Repair Level 3 or equivalent and test authorisation for technical tests specified by the statutory authorities
  • Ideally experieced in Military vehicle technical maintenance, recent exposure to electronic fleet management systems and a Class C (HGV2) license but not essential

In this Quality Assurance Welding Engineer role, you will support the welding engineer forming part of the welding coordination team, enhancing the welding quality management system WQMS. You'll provide proactive support and guidance to the manufacturing teams to ensure welding standards are adhered to.

To give you an idea of how this QA Welding Engineer role will look and feel, here are some things you can expect to do:

  • Report to and support the welding engineer to Set standards by helping develop WPS and ensuring welder training requirements/qualifications are maintained.
  • Provide proactive support and guidance to the manufacturing teams to assure the welding standards are adhered. 
  • Assist with works order planning data (welding), assist with internal welder audits and the audit functions
  • Perform ISO 3834 pre-audit analysis and identify any potential NCRs
  • Identify root causes of weld issues and internal weld audit NCRs
  • Support and implement changes driven by welder auditNCRs
  • Develop WPS as required for new product intake NPI and legacy programmes

The successful QA Welding Engineer candidate will be IWS/EWS qualified and registered with The Welding Institute (TWI). Additional requirements include:

  • Good knowledge of MIH/MAG (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) processes
  • Good knowledge and understanding of multiple welding processes, MIG/MAG(SMAW) TIG(GTAW)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 3834
  • Good understanding of mechanised welding systems and technical documents, including drawings
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Software (PM), DIN 2303 and IWT/EWT qualified or being CSWIP 3.1 qualified is desirable but not essential

Opportunity for a design engineer to join a mechanical design team and be responsible for the design and implementation of engine test equipment. In this role you will be responsible for the design of components and assemblies which could include engine rigging systems, mechanical systems, driveline components and unique test rigs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • CAD Design of components and assemblies.
  • Completion of component and group drawings.
  • Provide design calculations and analysis.
  • Taking the lead on technical projects.
