Wheels & Tyres CAD Design Engineer - 35111 - up to £23.50/hr - Chassis Engineering.
Location - Gaydon
A Wheels & Tyres CAD Design Engineer is required to work within the Wheel & Tyre Department, responsible for creating CAD geometry for both wheels and tyres and along with managing the CAD file structures for each programme. Work with others to manage CAD workload across the section ensuring designs are compatible and completed on time. Lead packaging studies / reviews with relevant Lead Engineers / Group Leader to resolve complex packaging issues and produce CAD models for alternative / modified wheel & tyre options. Support lead engineers in releasing all newly designed components.
3 Key Skills:
- Catia V5 experience essential (V6 & TCE knowledge would be beneficial)
- Knowledge of Wheel and tyres (sizing, design and useage) Knowledge of chassis systems.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment with strong communication and team working skills. Once trained, must be self-sufficient and deliver with minimum supervision. Strong geometric tolerance knowledge essential.
CATIA V5 trained / qualified, knowledge of product development processes (e.g. GPDS) is a significant advantage. Knowledge of WERS, eFDVS and Quality Tools is desirable. Engineer complex parts and / or assemblies, with particular consideration to part to part interfaces and relationships.
Work with CAD/non-CAD based engineers to extract engineering requirements to incorporate in CAD design. Experience of supplier management (or similar) is an advantage. Higher education qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Preferred - Experience / knowledge of wheel & tyres design and manufacturing processes. Experience of cost reduction in an automotive environment. Higher education qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. CATIA V5 trained / qualified.
