Artificial intelligence is set to be the most significant technological development to disrupt the way that cars are designed and engineered, since the mainstream implementation of CAD in automotive design.
This role will be key in setting the client on the path to using artificial intelligence (AI) in the design and development process and will be an important driver for continually improving the efficiency and quality of the products they design and build.
Working closely with colleagues, as well as the wider engineering, process development and IT teams across the company comma the successful candidate will design and develop the end to end process for the introduction and implementation of AI into engineering, and to ensure that it realises a tangible benefit to the company in terms of time to market, engineering quality and integration into the company world class quality initiative.
The role requires a highly experienced and skilled engineer with a proven track record of successful delivery across a range of automotive projects. You will also have some experience with the design and development or implementation of AI and or associative vehicle architecture (AVA) modelling in an automotive context.
Some specific areas that will need focus for AI development:
- Digital Buck
- Modular B om process
- PMXU automatic generation process
- Section cut process into master sections and gap plans
- New projects CAD, BOM and Buck establishment
- Other automatic generation processes such as cost information database and others
- Continuing improvement of CAD and engineering processes
- CAD lead role to train a mental the company in the above process is and Catia
- Organisation and management of TCU A and CA D user groups
- APC hard point release process
The successful candidate will need to be flexible and will also be required to assist the group in CAD data generation on specific vehicle areas and tasks as required. For this engineering skills together with experience of working on vehicle engineering systems design and development from concept to production is essential.
The successful candidate will also be required to participate in innovation initiatives across the company and will demonstrate suitable experience of doing so.
Other candidate requirements for the role include:
Excellent Catia operation skills, knowledge and experience, with the ability to undertake complex 3D geometry, surface and two D detailed creation
Degree qualified or similar
Personal initiative for continuing improvement of CAD and engineering processes
Skills in training and mentoring personnel in CAD tools and techniques
An ability to organise and manage TCUA and CAD user groups
APC hard point release process experience
Experience in leading process improvement
Capable of overcoming cultural and inter-functional barriers
Good organisational and communication skills
Prevent innovation abilities to support innovation activities and to generate ideas and concepts
Ability to self-start and define your own workload
Be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills at interview
