Principal Systems Engineer

A Principal Systems Engineer is required to join the Systems Team within a market leading Innovative Defence Systems Company. The Principal Systems Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will be part of an engineering team responsible for Systems, Test and Integration Engineering on the company's product range.

Principal Systems Engineer - Key Responsibilities

  • Senior member of the Systems Integration team
  • Establish, document and maintain documentation standards and provide guidance
  • Integration documentation required during the system development phases
  • System and subsystem Integration and qualification process and plans
  • Responsibility for the integration lab functioning and equipment availability
  • Interact with Prime Integration manager to deliver integration output to programme
  • Support the Programme Managers as required
  • Plan the integration and qualification performance (activities, Labs, Equipment etc.)
  • Produce, update and maintain Integration & qualification documents
  • Oversee integration at system level and support integration of subsystems
  • Maintain Technical Specs and external interface requirement specification
  • Capture/track Customer, User and/or System requirements
  • Prepare readiness review datapacks and support Field and Flight Engineering teams

Technical Skills and Experience for Principal Systems Engineer

  • Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent engineering alternative
  • Proven experience in systems test and integration
  • Knowledge and experience in integration, verification and qualification
  • Technical experience in a multi-disciplined project environment
  • Experience of customer interaction and Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to gain/hold the requisite Security Clearance
  • Defence sector background or other development/process oriented industry
  • Using systems and requirements engineering tools such as DOORS
  • Working in a multi-cultural/multinational environment
  • Self-motivated, reliable, accurate, assertive and confident approach
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to influence and communicate well in a multi-cultural environment
  • Prepared to travel to sites at various locations within and outside the UK occasionally
