Contract Position based at Gaydon - Hybrid working with main site in Gaydon plus 1-day minimum at a stakeholder site (Solihull and West Midlands area)
Position Description:
Strategy Buyer - Non-Production Purchasing with overall responsibility and leadership for all Purchasing activities within specified categories, including the following responsibilities:
- Sourcing in line with Strategy Category Plan (SCP) through the Global Sourcing Process to the point of Contract / Purchase Order for their subcategories Lead continuous improvements in purchasing activities by supporting COE initiatives / activities for their respective subcategories
- Internal stakeholder alignment on strategy and sourcing, including key focus on regional inputs and regional deployment for their subcategories
- Global category strategy development and deployment to deliver company cost and quality targets through sourcing within the Global markets for their subcategories
- Supporting delivery team in supplier relationships through the Contract Management and Supplier Performance Management process for their subcategories
- SCP delivery, ensuring completion line with annual SCP targets for their subcategories
- Ensuring the SCP is kept up to date in line with the annual review target for their subcategories
- Ensuring analytics on suppliers, market and business requirements is available for their subcategories (Analytics will be provided by the Analyst function)
- Lead Stakeholder alignment in relation to strategy creation and implementation for their subcategory
- Ensure alignment with Regional Buying Colleagues to ensure strategic / tactical sourcing is in line with strategy for their subcategory
- Responsible for their subcategory delivery against savings targets
- Identify Make vs Buy and business justification when required and support analysis for their subcategory
- Supply chain risk management for their subcategory
- Ensuring regional buying teams are adhering to the subcategory strategy within the region.
- Engaging with specialist functions where required GPF, Risk, OGC
- Maintaining lead for supplier interaction
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of indirect procurement of goods and services
- Experience of negotiating terms and conditions
- Commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Understand category management principles
- Strategic thinking
- Global business understanding and experience
- Relationship management - internal and external
- Category knowledge and demonstrated experience
- Flexibility and agility to be able to adjust to changing business needs

Experience Preferred:
- Experience of working in Procurement in Automotive or Manufacturing-based Industries is preferable (but is not mandatory)
- Having completed a sourcing project or a procurement process
- Experience with negotiating with suppliers on a regular basis
- Proven track record of achieving cost savings / reductions year on year
- Experience working with multiple internal stakeholders (i.e. Engineering, Logistics, Finance, etc.)
Education:
- MCIPS or working towards the qualification
