Due to continued growth this leading independent provider of industrial process control & automation solutions are looking to recruit Software & Commissioning Engineers to deliver projects into their Blue Chip customer base both within the UK & Overseas
Salary: Circa £35,000 - £50,000 per annum plus benefits
Suitable for: Control Systems Engineer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, Sofrware Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, PLC/SCADA Engineer
Reporting in to the Project Manager you will produce software programs both PLC and SCADA for process control and automation solutions primarily for the food and beverage industry.
The Software Engineer’s role will be to interpret customer requirements and translate into the necessary programming to match the application. Where applicable the Software & Commissioning Engineer will work with the end user to generate a FDS or URS (Functional Design Specification or User Requirement Specification) Once these documents have been generated then the Software & Commissioning Engineer will expected to either work alone or as part of a team to write comprehensive, bespoke code to successfully control the end users process as per design requirements, you may be required to write simulation code to allow for a SAT (Software Acceptance Test) to take place.
On certain projects where a MCC or other electrical equipment has been designed and built by others in the company the Software & Commissioning Engineer will be expected to be involved in the full testing of this equipment from a software perspective, ensuring all of the control loops and network interfaces are set up and working correctly. You will work with an Electrical Design Engineer to resolve any issues before delivery to the client.
Background and experience:
Skills and Experience:
- Experience within the food industry is an advantage
- Strong technical electrical understanding and experience is essential, preferably time served apprenticeship
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Process Logic Control (PLC) and SCADA Experience is essential
- Testing and Fault finding to component level would be an advantage
As part of the commissioning process you will be required to travel to the End users premises to carry out final process commissioning and acceptance, you will be expected to travel within the UK as well as abroad to such areas as Europe, the Middle East, Eastern Block Countries, North and South America as well as Asia and the Indian sub continent.
Most commissioning trips will be of 1 to 3 week duration, but on occasion up to 5 weeks away from home may be necessary
