Senior Thermal Design Engineer – Electric Machines – Midlands - £ Competitive + Excellent benefits

A Senior Thermal Design Engineer is required for a flourishing department at the forefront of electric and hybrid vehicle design and development. The successful candidate will lead the thermal design and analysis of electric machines and power electronic assemblies.

As Senior Thermal Design Engineer – Electric Machines – you will be required to

Be responsible for the thermal design of electric machines, inverters, DCDC converters to meet customer requirements;

Liaise / collaborate with electromagnetic, mechanical and hardware engineers to jointly develop analytical / numerical thermal models for new electric machines, inverters, DCDC converters;

Progress thermal designs from ideas to prototypes with the development of detailed models and supporting engineering documentation, through to participating in prototype build, testing and validation activities;

Generation and execution of thermal specific test plans, engineering documentations, coordinating investigation and undertake analysis where necessary to resolve performance issues;

Establish and maintain specialist design tools and methodologies in support of product design;

Supervising technical support staff during prototype assembly and test;

Support Business Development in winning new business, representing the Company at supplier, partner and customer locations, both in the UK and overseas.

As Senior Thermal Design Engineer – Electric Machines- you will need

An Engineering degree or equivalent. Relevant postgraduate training highly advantageous.

Experience in electric machine & power electronic thermal design;

Experience and familiarity using a range of thermal FEA / CFD tools together with other analytical design tools;

Understanding and experience of all mechanical aspects that influence the design of electrical machines, inverters and DCDC converters. This would extend to a familiarity with CAD analysis tools;
