Position overview:
 
To work within the HMI Design Team developing graphical user interfaces for embedded automotive applications.
 
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Develop real time embedded software for automotive infotainment platforms
  • Develop user interfaces using GUI/HMI tools such as Crank, Rightware Kanzi, EB Guide, Altia, 
  • Work closely with the HMI design team to understand requirements and identify technical constraints
  • Fast prototyping of complex UI's onto Windows, IOS and embedded platforms
  • Debugging real time software issues using a range of techniques and tools
  • Ability to take projects from concept to high volume production.
  • Working with suppliers to understand embedded platform API's and ensure smooth transition to volume production
  • Supporting technical gate reviews
 
Qualifications, skills and behaviours:
 
Required:
  • Strong experience of working with GUI/HMI tools such as Crank, Rightware Kanzi, EB Guide, Altia, Qt
  • Strong background in real time embedded C/C++
  • Experience in debugging complex software problems
  • Experience developing for IOS and Android
  • An understanding of performance constraints and experience of resolving performance issues
  • Knowledge of the implications of  ISO26262 for Safety Critical software development
  • Substantial experience working with Embedded Linux and QNX
  • Familiarity with the use of Software Configuration Management tools (source control, continuous integration, etc.)
  • Ability to plan and estimate development tasks (ideally within an Agile framework)
  • Experience with unit/acceptance testing and writing high quality testable code
  • At least Degree level qualification
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in embedded GUI development
  • Demonstrable industrial C/C++ experience preferably in an automotive environment
  • Significant experience/appreciation of quality and process assurance
  • Good communication and motivation skills
  • Start-up mentality, dynamic, independent
  • Experience working with OpenGL ES Experience working within an Agile development environment

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working within the automotive or gaming industries
  • Experience in defining software level requirements
  • IBM Rational Toolchain – Doors, Rhapsody, RTC
  • Experience in bare-metal low level microprocessor software development
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Autosar
  • Experience in defining software level requirements and design using UML
  • Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Lua
  • Python
  • Knowledge of Automotive infotainment hardware platforms and microcontrollers
  • Experience working to MISRA guidelines
