Senior Hardware Engineer - Electric Vehicle Products - Birmingham - £ Competitive + Excellent benefits

A Senior Hardware Engineer is required for a brand new automotive technology innovation centre, positioning itself at the forefront of electric and hybrid vehicle technology development. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver the advanced engineering of EV and Hybrid vehicle products, for a wide range of global customers. You will be responsible for semiconductor gate drive technology research and product development including SMPS, gate drive and measurement circuit design, simulation, analysis and verification.

As Senior Hardware Engineer - you will be required to

Hold responsibility for power semiconductor gate drive research and development. In the area of SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supplies).

Hardware design analysis including safety analysis such as FMEDA, FTA and reliability analysis such as DFMEA, De-rating/stress Analysis, Worst case analysis

Hardware circuit concept design, detailed design, schematic and PCB design according to automotive specifications.

Hardware circuit verification and validation, time management, test specification and report document definition and review. Design simulation including function, tolerance and thermal analysis.

Actively communicate with external suppliers, universities, research institutes and clients, appreciating cutting-edge technology and future trending technology.

As Senior Hardware Engineer - you will have

A degree in a relevant discipline.

Proven hardware development experience in an automotive Tier 1 supplier or OEM. With familiarity of automotive electronic hardware design processes.

Hardware design and safety analysis such as DFMEA, de-rating/stress analysis, worst case analysis. Cadence Orcad/Allegro, FPGA application, HALT, Quantitative ALT experience.

Active gate drive and wide band gap semiconductor device gate drive development experience.

PCB design experience with good knowledge of component selection, heat dissipation, EMC, isolation, cost control and manufacturability
