Senior R & M Safety Engineer - Gloucestershire - Permanent - Aero + Defence

A Senior R & M Safety Engineer is required to join an innovative Aero + Defence Systems company on Permanent basis that specialises in advanced products primarily for the Defence and Aerospace industry. The Senior R & M Safety Engineer will report directly to the RM & Safety Manager and provide technical expertise to support the optimisation of systems and equipment reliability, maintainability and safety parameters. The Senior R & M Safety Engineer will proactively influence the development of products to ensure Safety, Testability and that the R&M principles are implemented and integrated.

Responsibilities of the Senior R & M Safety Engineer

  • Take a lead role in developing the technical capability of the RM&S department
  • Understand and apply the principles of Safety, Reliability, Maintainability and Testability
  • Identify and analyse Safety, Testability, R&M requirements from customers
  • Generation of Safety, Reliability, Maintainability, Testability and Supportability plans
  • Safety and Reliability & Maintainability analysis including reliability prediction
  • FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) as part of the design and development
  • Provide guidance for design for safety, reliability, maintainability and testability
  • Influence the design and development of engineering solutions
  • Conduct and co-ordinate Safety, R&M and Supportability reviews
  • Identify and agree Safety and Supportability requirements from international legislation

Technical Requirements of the Senior R & M Safety Engineer

  • Good knowledge of standards and directives such as MIL-STD's, ARP4761 & 4754
  • Degree or HNC educated in an engineering or science discipline
  • A background in electronics would be a distinct advantage
  • Some experience of Mechanical Engineering Development
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle and associated requirements
  • Understands the importance of delivery performance to cost and schedule
  • Experience and understanding of product development practices and Quality standards
  • Understanding and experience of data capture in terms of Technical Publications
  • Knowledge of Training, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) & Logistic Support Analysis
  • Understanding and experience of data capture in terms of Technical Publications
  • Experience of identifying Programme and Customer Related Supportability requirements
