Senior Safety RMS Engineer - Gloucestershire - Permanent - Aero + Defence

A Senior Safety RMS Engineer is required to join an innovative Aero + Defence Systems company on Permanent basis that specialises in advanced products primarily for the Defence and Aerospace industry. The Senior Safety RMS Engineer will report directly to the Safety RMS Manager and provide technical expertise to support the optimisation of systems and equipment reliability, maintainability and safety parameters. The Senior Safety RMS Engineer will proactively influence the development of products to ensure Safety, reliability, Testability and that the R&M principles are implemented and integrated.

Responsibilities of the Senior Safety RMS Engineer

  • Take a lead role in developing the technical capability of the RM&S department
  • Understand and apply the principles of Safety, Reliability, Maintainability and Testability
  • Identify and analyse Safety, Reliability, Testability, R&M requirements from customers
  • Generation of Safety, Reliability, Maintainability, Testability and Supportability plans
  • Safety and Reliability & Maintainability analysis including reliability prediction
  • FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) as part of the design and development
  • Provide guidance for design for safety, reliability, maintainability and testability
  • Influence the design and development of engineering solutions
  • Conduct and co-ordinate Safety, R&M and Supportability reviews
  • Identify and agree Safety and Supportability requirements from international legislation

Technical Requirements of the Senior Safety RMS Engineer

  • Good knowledge of standards and directives such as MIL-STD's, ARP4761 & 4754
  • Degree or HNC educated in an engineering or science discipline
  • A background in electronics would be a distinct advantage
  • Some experience of Mechanical Engineering Development
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle and associated requirements
  • Understands the importance of delivery performance to cost and schedule
  • Experience and understanding of product development practices and Quality standards
  • Understanding and experience of data capture in terms of Technical Publications
  • Knowledge of Training, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) & Logistic Support Analysis
  • Understanding and experience of data capture in terms of Technical Publications
  • Experience of identifying Programme and Customer Related Supportability requirements
