An Electronic Design Engineer is required in the Test Equipment area and to join an established company with a strong reputation in the aerospace and defence sectors. The Senior Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of electronic and electrical solutions, from concept to detailed design for complex Test Equipment Systems. The Senior Electronic Design Engineer will conduct technical reviews in the provision of Electronic & Electrical Test Equipment and lead appropriate work packages.

Responsibilities of the Senior Electronic Design Engineer will include the following:

  • Provide Technical Review for the deployment of electronic &electrical solutions
  • Responsible for the definition, development, integration, validation & verification
  • Demonstrate current knowledge and application of safety and industry standards
  • Design and integration of electronic and electrical solutions into Test Equipment Systems
  • Knowledge of requirements definition, concept, design, verification & validation methods
  • Assist the Test Equipment Manager with the definition of electronic & electrical solutions
  • Responsible for the preparation and release of documentation for Test Equipment
  • Active participation at technical reviews with peers and Chief Engineers
  • Responsible for the definition, completion and or direction of work packages
  • maintenance or upgrade of existing electronic & electrical solutions.
  • Responsible for update & release of Documentation for maintenance or upgrade activities
  • Lead Root Cause investigations into all aspects of the Test Equipment Systems
  • Identify appropriate training courses to maintain electronic / electrical capabilities
  • Support the Test Equipment Manager with strategies for obsolescence management
  • Ensure all Health & Safety practices are followed and, any new issues raised during activities
  • Write or assist with the completion and review of work-related Risk Assessments
  • Support internal and external Quality Audits of deployed Test Equipment solutions
  • Actively participate in 5S activities with a continuous improvement program

The Senior Electronic Design Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Bachelor Degree, preferably a Masters, in a relevant Electronic/Electrical subject
  • Years of Experience in the development of Electronic/electrical solutions
  • Knowledge of servo-hydraulic and electromechanical Test Systems
  • Knowledge of Safety Related Equipment, PLCs, and Motor Drive systems
  • Demonstrable commercial experience of analogue and digital electronics design
  • Experience of closed loop control systems within Industry
  • Knowledge of industry Safety related Directives and Standards would be advantageous
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment to fault find electronic and electrical issues
  • Experience in one or more of the following: eCAD, PCB Software, LabView, DOORS
  • Experience of JIRA, MatLab and SubVersion is advantageous
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, VISO and Project
  • Knowledge of PC operating platforms (DOS/ Windows/ Microsoft Environments)
  • Knowledge of Low-Level Programming (C++, Visual Basic)
