A Satellite Operations Engineer is required within a leading Telecommunications and Satellite and Space Systems Technology Company. The successful Satellite Operations Engineer will join a specialised team in this sector and will report to the Communications Systems Manager and work closely with the Operations and Maintenance business areas to identify best practice and concepts of operations.

The Satellite Operations Engineer will be supporting global industry-leading clients within the commercial satellite telecommunications sector with operational support and advice. The successful Satellite Operations Engineer will be responsible for delivering concept of network operations, process and procedure material required to support the efficient operation of a global satellite communications service provider.

The Skill Set / Responsibilities / Requirements for Satellite Operations Engineer

  • Degree or equivalent in a Communications, Computing or Engineering related subject
  • Development of process frameworks to support efficient delivery of services
  • Perform gap analysis and develop new and/or enhanced concepts of
  • Identifying enhancements to the Network and Service Management System
  • Generation of operations/maintenance process and procedure documentation
  • Maintaining and policing processes/procedures and implementing change management
  • Development of plan and strategy documentation and Support to Operational Testing
  • Defines the processes and procedures to deliver a quality service
  • Identify and foster opportunities for new business and aspects of project management
  • Experience in the satellite or mobile communications arena
  • Knowledge of Network Control Centres or Satellite Ground Stations/Mobile Base Stations
  • Experience of commercial satellite and/or military communications systems
  • Experience of process development and realisation
  • Understanding of comms operations frameworks and standards Systems Analysis
  • MS office toolset (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Development and delivery of training that describes the operation of communications
  • Familiarity with tools within satellite ground stations for operations and maintenance
  • Experience working on UK military satellite communications projects
  • Experience of satellite ground station operations and maintenance practices
  • Experience of quality management systems and frameworks
  • Experience of working with/on ESA projects or programmes
  • Ability to gain UK Security Clearance
  • Goal orientated and self-reliant and able to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Commercially astute with good document writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent inter-personal and communications skills with ability to brief and negotiate
  • Adaptable and proactive when working within an environment of changing requirements
  • Able to function effectively within a team and with other personnel
  • Willing to spend time away from home through the week
  • When required and to travel and work at client sites in London, South West and elsewhere
