Position Summary

To provide effective customer management of key clients.  This role is the link between customers and the company and represents the customer’s interest to ensure we meet our commitments.  This involves working with our Business Development, Purchasing, Engineering and Production teams.  The scope includes potential as well as existing customers and is a key member of the management team.  This role will require travel to customer locations for proposal and contract meetings.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage existing accounts and open new accounts in both UK and International markets promoting our capabilities.
  2. Respond to Customer enquiries, gathering and coordinating Production, Engineering and Purchasing teams to work with Business Development in the production of detailed proposals.
  3. Use customer/prospect contact activity tools and systems, and ensure information held in these systems is kept up to date.
  4. Use the Sales database to generate sales data and present it in the required reporting formats.
  5. Act on behalf of customers to resolve potential problems and offer solutions to customer needs.
  6. Follow all quality system procedures and work with a continuous improvement philosophy.
  7. Update customer data on a regular basis using company systems, preparing forecasts and budgets in line with the company requirements.

Standard Responsibilities

  1. To participate in the performance management system and maintain a personal development plan.
  2. To ensure the confidentiality and security of all information processed during the course of employment in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and any subsequent legislative revisions and additions.
  3. To be aware of personal responsibilities under Health and Safety regulations and attend appropriate training.  To maintain Health and Safety focused projects.
  4. To co-operate with business risk assessments and ensure that risks are identified and reported as they arise and attend appropriate training.
  5. To be aware of and adhere to policies and procedures applicable to the role.
  6. To perform any reasonable duty which lies within the boundaries of your capability.

The Candidate

We are looking for a person who can give consistent performance within a structured and predictable climate. They should have the ability to deal with routine tasks and the persistence to see a job through to conclusion. A friendly approach and the ability to communicate in a thorough and factual manner are integral to the role.

The job is both technical and administrative in nature, with more focus on the latter.  A knowledge of engineering terminology and processes is an advantage. Standard operating procedures, adherence to rules, and a patient, hardworking nature are important aspects of the role.

Ideally the person fulfilling this job will have the ability to persuade others and work within specific guideline - maintaining quality and standards.  The person should be routine-orientated, methodical, self-disciplined and amiable.
