Position Description:

Remanufacturing Lead Engineer - Engines & Engine Ancillaries

Product & Remanufacturing Programs is an integral part of Revenue and Loyalty, within the Global Customer Service division of  Commercial Organisation. Its primary function is to facilitate the delivery of Product that will contribute to Global Revenue/Profit targets, through understanding market needs/problems and delivering programs to help Regions, NSCs and Importers to generate increasing levels of Revenue, Profit and Retention.

This role is to support and enhance the Remanufacturing `product portfolio` for Engines & Engine Ancillaries, increasing Remanufacturing revenue & profit, and return substantial warranty cost savings.

The Remanufacturing Lead engineer will act as technical lead for Remanufacturing Engines & Engine Ancillary products, liaising with a number of business functions (Aftermarket Purchasing, Engineering, STA) and Suppliers, to deliver a quality Remanufacturing part, approved by all key stakeholders, on-time and to budget. The Remanufacturing Engineer will be considered as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Remanufacturing Engine Engineering.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Remanufacturing development team to understand Remanufacturing project priority and required timings
  • Collate and review new product warranty data and failure modes which may impact Remanufacturing
  • Manage / deliver the engineering activity for Remanufacturing programmes within the required gateways
  • Maintain & develop `mandatory product list` (adding new product potentials)
  • Develop and manage key Remanufacturing Engineering processes: Service standards in SDOTS BoMs Specifications PPAP/PSW Supplier process controls including SCSS / FMEAs / EoL testing etc.
  • Release Remanufacturing pre-prefix WERS part numbers by future commodity and to support current programme projects (maximise core recovery)
  • Co-ordinate with Commodity Engineers to provide product specific technical expertise and ensure OE product failure modes are understood and addressed
  • Advise 'Best Practice' for process solutions using disciplined methodology e.g. 6 sigma / Poke Yoke
  • Define Quality Processes for Remanufacturing
  • Support STA to develop Remanufacturing supplier capability
  • Understand latest Remanufacturing technologies and how they should influence OE product design
  • Liaise with APC on future technologies

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience and expertise in the specification, delivery, installation and launch of parts, preferably in an automotive environment
  • Previous experience with parts release systems
  • Knowledge of problem solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving, Design of Experiments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in Manufacturing
  • Travel - Current driving licence and Passport (occasional visits to suppliers and major Markets may be required from time to time; flexibility is required)
  • Able to work independently, is results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience with `Engine & Engine Ancillaries
  • Engineering or a similar engineering discipline
  • Previous experience with Remanufacturing techniques and processes
  • Automotive commercial experience
  • Microsoft package elements Visio/project, Power Point and Excel
  • Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering
  • Knowledge and cross functional experience

Education Required:

Relevant Degree or equivalent experience
