Salary £23000 - £26,000, bonus, company pension, 23 days holiday plus bank holiday, extra days for service.

This well-established specialist engineering and manufacturing business is a Designer, Manufacturer and Supplier of equipment for the Oil & Gas Industry.

Due to demand for their products and services, we have been asked to recruit a procurement candidate to join the purchasing team. This new created role, reports into a Purchasing manager and will be responsible for the below.

Summary of Job:

  • Responsible for the timely purchasing of goods and services, as specified on the relevant material requisitions/client specifications
  • Responsible for the completion of all relevant databases
  • To ensure sub-vendor orders are undertaken in a safe, timely and efficient manner to meet or better the company’s contractual commitments
  • To ensure materials are scheduled to arrive at designated place to enable each contract schedule objective is achieved in a timely manner

Staff relationship:

  • Directly responsible to the Purchasing Manager or Purchasing Engineer in their absence
  • Functionally associated with the Projects Manager
  • Consults with suppliers of goods and services
  • Consults internally with all departments

Experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or higher
  • Engineering related qualification preferable, perhaps CIPS qualification
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook)
  • Understanding and experience of the manufacturing lifecycle and its processes (design to delivery)
  • Experience of dealing with suppliers
  • Effective communication, negotiation and organisational skills

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Shall be fully committed to the achievement of company policies and objectives with special respect to quality and safety
  • Material procurement from requisitions, in a timely manner and as competitively priced as

possible

  • Preparing own requisitions, where necessary, for non-technical items
  • Responsible for grading of suppliers with the assistance of the Purchasing Manager/Quality

department/Project Department

  • Responsible for determining liability, disposition and corrective action to be taken with regard to supplier non-conformance reports (NCRs)
  • Negotiating with suppliers on price, time, and quality in the best interest of the company
  • To type up enquiries and orders, entering them onto the relevant databases as a matter of priority and daily
  • To consult with all suppliers of goods and services
  • To look after sub-suppliers, i.e., sub-vendor approvals and payment terms
  • To chase up, receive and check supplier order acknowledgements, where necessary
  • To chase up BFI order acknowledgements
  • To maintain accurate records
  • To plan the expediting of supplier’s purchase orders and manage the workload by utilising

assistance from the Purchasing Department & Projects Department, when necessary

  • To review, monitor and progress the supplier’s purchase orders to ensure goods and

services are provided in a timely manner and within the agreed supply dates

  • To visit, where necessary, suppliers of goods and services; this may involve overnight stays and occasional oversea travel
  • To ensure expediting reports are raised for all visits and distributed to the supplier and inhouse personnel, as appropriate, and ensure the contract database is updated accordingly
  • To implement actions, where considered appropriate, for programme recovery or improvement
  • To consider commercial actions required to achieve improvement/recovery; this must be agreed with senior management prior to implementation
  • To ensure compliance to Quality standards and best working practices throughout the contract
  • Shall undertake reasonable instructions and tasks from senior personnel, commensurate with the nature of the job and in the best interests of the company
