Purchase Ledger Controller

Hartlebury, Kidderminster


A Purchase Ledger Controller is required with knowledge of accounting software systems.

This company based in Hartlebury requires a Purchase Ledger Controller with excellent numerical skills for a new permanent role. As a Purchase Ledger Controller you will be required to:

  • To take responsibility for and manage the Purchase Ledger
  • Maintain the vendor master database
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and identifying any discrepancies
  • Ensure that where goods/services have been received, the purchase order has been receipted by the appropriate person/department
  • Obtain approval for invoices that do not have a purchase order
  • Enter incoming invoices received into SAP ensuring correct coding and authorisation
  • Maintain the electronic filing of purchase invoices
  • Reconcile supplier statements with the Purchase Ledger
  • Reconcile the Purchase Ledger to the General Ledger each month end
  • To be the first point of contact for suppliers, answering invoicing queries and providing payment advice
  • To oversee the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) account, having overall responsibility for its reconciliation liaising with other departments to resolve queries
  • Liaise with the purchasing department to resolve any queries with purchase orders and goods receipting and to ensure purchase orders are set up to allow for efficient receipting of goods and entering of invoices
  • To critically look at the current purchase ledger systems and actively seek to improve these where appropriate
  • To provide the Financial Controller with regular reports as required
  • To prepare and submit the monthly Intrastat returns for the company
  • To assist other members of the Accounts Team as required
  • Any other task reasonably requested by senior management within your skillset

The Purchase Ledger Controller should have the following skills or experience:

  • Experience working in a purchase ledger role
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • "Can do" attitude, being willing to get involved with everything from the ground up
  • Knowledge of accounting software systems essential, SAP highly desirable
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Highly effective communicator
  • At least intermediate ability to use MS Excel essential
  • Willingness to review what is done now and suggest improvements
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to develop strong relationships for effective team working
