Project Manager - Aerospace - Attractive - Hampshire - Permanent

A Project Manager is required to join a market leading Innovative Aerospace and Defence Technology Company that specialise in aircraft sensors, displays and systems. The Project Manager will deliver on a £6m + Engineering Development Project and will Manage a multifunctional team of up to 20 Engineers and Technicians, over more than one site. The Project Manager ensure contract deliveries through the management of engineers in an IPT environment.

Responsibilities of the Project Manager

  • Strong ability to manage customer relationships over the short and long term
  • Be the identifiable leader of an integrated project team, internally and with the customer
  • Coaching engineers and other allocated resources in the rigorous application of best practice
  • Engineering process tailored to specific project aims
  • Motivate, track and challenge delivery teams using appropriate metrics
  • Direct line management of engineers to include supporting development
  • Sustainment of professional competencies
  • Support skills analysis and recruitment activities within the engineering department
  • Full ownership of planning and delivery to cost, schedule and quality
  • Manage Aerospace engineering development projects
  • Develop Work and Product Breakdown Structures (WBS/PBS)
  • Analysis of customer requirements, Statements of Work and internal constraints
  • Facilitate and enhance the input of engineers to plans, costing and work activities
  • Provide project reporting to senior management (resource, progress leading to EVM)
  • Manage the risk process on projects; Identifying risk associated with work packages
  • Produce analysis evidence and recommendations to support senior management
  • Develop Statement of Work documentation to support engineering requirements
  • Take ownership of elements of departmental process
  • Champion continuous improvement in these areas

Qualifications and Desired Characteristics of the Project Manager

  • An experienced project manager with a record of delivery across full project lifecycle
  • Solid understanding of project management best practice theory
  • PRINCE2 or APMP with the practical ability to tailor and adjust process to gain efficiency
  • Experience of day to day people management of local engineering teams
  • An ability to interpret complex task data to identify a planned path
  • An articulate communicator (written and oral) with the ability to rapidly gain credibility with customers, peers and engineers
  • Experience of interfacing with Large Commercial related businesses is desirable
