Title: Project Engineer (Body Engineering)

Position Description:

Maternity backfill for 12 months.

This role is within the Lids department within Body Engineering reporting to the departmental Group Leader with matrix reporting to the Programme Module Leader operating as a Project Engineer with component and system delivery responsibilities.

The role will focus on leading the Engineering Design, Development and Delivery of Lids related components for Jaguar and Land Rover new or On-going Program Development (OPD) programmes through to Launch at the Manufacturing plant achieving Supplier Parts Submission Warrant (PSW) in line with programme timing (PCS).

The components that the Front Lids team are specifically responsible for are bonnets, bonnet hinges, fenders and hardware, fender baffle finishers, and charge port / fuel filler bowls and lids. A Lead Engineer would be expected to manage one or more of these components on a programme, depending on content.

  1. Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment.
  2. Previous experience working with Access systems, locks, latches, electrical systems.
  3. Previous JLR or Ford knowledge of systems and processes

Experience Required:


  • Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment.
  • Management of component commodity plans to achieve quality, cost and time targets.
  • A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes.
  • Ability to manipulate/visualise CAD geometry in Catia V5/V6/TCE/Digibuck.
  • Driving Licence.
  • A passion for the automotive industry and the potential of automotive technology
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to multitask
  • Comfortable challenging cross-functionally

  • Previous experience within engineering or test planning departments.
  • Knowledge of automotive closure systems, plastics, composites or BIW.

Education Required:

Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
