Project Engineer - Permanent - Rugby - Automation / Robotics

A Project Engineer is required with knowledge of Automation or Robotics. Candidates with experience of system integration would be well received.

Due to the continued success of this company, a manufacturer of precision components for the aircraft industry based in Rugby requires a dynamic and motivated Project Engineer with automation and robotics experience for a new permanent role. As a Project Engineer you will be required to:

  • Works closely with the process development team, system integrators, automation technology suppliers as well as internal customers
  • Identify and explore automation opportunities within the business
  • Collaborate with engineers on development / stabilisation of a process prior to automation
  • Work with a system integrator to design out as much process variation as possible
  • Formulate and execute high value automation projects
  • Provides and coordinates automation operator training (takes a hands-on leading role)
  • Manage projects using a structured methodology
  • Ensure process evaluation and improvement activities are captured in formal engineering reports



The Project Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Experience working for a system integrator within automation or robotics
  • A proven background in the improvement of operator productivity through reduction or automation of non-value-added activities
  • Operated successfully within project engineering teams
  • Able to identify "best practice" from both within the group and from external customers
  • Ideally Lean Six Sigma Qualified
  • Experience with machine tending and linked process automation would advantageous but not essential
