Supporting an existing, established manufacturing company with a globally recognised brand for the design, manufacture and supply of commercial vehicle tankers and jetting equipment, this new position of Programme Manager (known as NPI / NPPD Manager) is to develop and manage the processes around New Product Introduction and New Product & Process Development in further support of new vehicle product offerings.

This role is not as a traditional Programme Manager but is to hold NPI and NPPD responsibility for all products manufactured. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing the processes / department to support accurate project delivery for current and future technologies as well as customer product variations.
  • The effective project management of any NPPD (New Product Process Development) qualifying project to ensure they are delivered on time, in budget and achieve programme scope.
  • Project management from initial project assessment through to start of production and on into the product 'infant care' phases.
  • From conception, leading the product development strategy (including creation and maintenance of multi-generation product processes)
  • Managing the launch across product lines/product variations as required.
  • Effective simultaneous management of multiple programme budgets
  • Maintaining timing to ensure smooth transition of product phase out/in to meet legislative requirements and avoid marketplace gaps.
  • Liaising, co-ordinating and management of both internal team members and key supplier representatives.
  • Maintaining monthly corporate NPPD status reports, supporting the technical development phases ahead of and into NPI.
  • Preparing and presenting key programme gate reviews at both local and corporate review levels.
  • Steering cross-functional teams to support accurate and repeatable gated processes for NPI / NPPD
  • Working with the commercial teams and in house engineering team to identify product developments which enhance the products value proposition and support customer/market requirements.

Working within this complex and varied large vehicle product solutions environment which has an important level of focus on product conformance and supplying the customer with modern on-board and complex vehicle systems, this role is seeking an experienced individual to establish robust and repeatable processes/activities.

Working with high complexity products and high level BOM's, this large site operation in the West Midlands has a full order book and is strategically focused on continued growth. Reporting to the senior management team, this is a new position and is strategically placed to support the organisations' ongoing UK and international success.

To support this role, you must have/be:

  • Suitably qualified to degree level and above.
  • Proven team leadership experience working within a complex product environment.
  • Strong programme and project management NPI type exposure working alongside new process development and introduction.
  • Have a suitable technical awareness and be proficient in MRP/ERP systems.
  • Able to work closely with all levels of the organisation and ensure an open and un-siloed approach.
  • A natural ability to positively influence people.
  • Travel as required in support of operational, procurement and customer needs.
