Programme Manager


The Company:

A start-up engineering company with strong financial backing developing an exciting, disruptive marine powertrain product for release in 2023.

The company has a small but experienced team of people who are passionate about successfully bringing this technologically leading product to market.

Role overview:

You will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of the programme. Guiding and advising on progress and performance with responsibility for the effective co-ordination of the programme’s projects and management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising.

In this role you must have knowledge of programme management principles and have ideally demonstrated experience of multiple programmes.  You must have a strategic mindset as well as be able to lead and develop indirect teams whilst creating and maintaining focus, enthusiasm, and momentum.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and set goals for programmes according to the strategic aims of the organisation
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain through effective programme management
  • Define and deploy the programme's governance arrangements
  • Plan the programme(s) from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes
  • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements
  • Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people
  • Ensure the effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards
  • Apply change, risk and resource management principles when needed
  • Establishing, defining requirements, and leading programme reviews
  • Manage third party contributions to the programme as required

About You

  • Proven experience as programme manager
  • Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods
  • Good understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties
  • Good knowledge of programme and project management methods including MSP and PRINCE2
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Degree educated in a relevant field
