Production Process Engineer - Gloucester - Defence - Permanent - Attractive

A Production Process Engineer is required to join the Engineering Team within a market leading Innovative Technology Company that specialise Communication Systems for Military and Government Organisations.

The successful Production Process Engineer will manage new product introduction and engineering change with DFM and DFT techniques, ensuring all build documentation data is accurate and up to date. The Production Process Engineer will be the focal point between Manufacturing/Engineering, prioritising requests in conjunction with the Engineering Manager

Production Process Engineer - Key Responsibilities

  • Application of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Continually improve productivity and reduce lead times
  • Represent the Production team at all relevant Engineering Design Reviews
  • Ensuring product development cycle maximum quality and efficiency
  • Lead and supervise the production of engineering prototypes
  • Create, manage and authorise all supporting build documentation,
  • Support Bid Proposals through delivery of accurate and relevant information
  • Liaise with the Production Manager and Engineering
  • Provide accurate build time estimation for use in scheduling and resource planning
  • Continuous review of all current manufacturing processes
  • Support Project teams to ensure programmes are completed to agreed timescales
  • Clearly define and effectively manage objectives throughout the project lifecycle
  • Make suggestions on Continuous Improvement within the business
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies
  • Reporting progress and status to Project Management, Customers and Suppliers

Technical Skills and Experience required for the Production Process Engineer

  • HNC/Degree in Mechanical, Electronic or Production Engineering
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow management
  • Knowledge of Mechanical or Electronic Design a distinct advantage
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Commercial awareness, understanding of costs and margins
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Occasional travel may be required to customers, suppliers and other sites
  • Able to occasionally work away from home both Nationally and Internationally
  • Full UK Driving License
