Product Development Engineer - Consumer Domestic Goods - Warwickshire - £35k to £40k DOE.
The business has been developing innovative products for over 200 years, its been going for so long the company holds awards given by the Victorians. Product and manufacturing innovation is still at the heart of everything the business does and this year is no exception with additional investment into the design and development of the next generation of products as well as innovating existing lines. We are looking for you to join an existing team of around 15 Design and Development Engineers who are responsible for developing new innovative features and technical improvements while working with site Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers in bringing new ideas to fruition.
As a team you will be ensuring that bills of materials, spares, data files and technical documentation are in place to support manufacturing and also to support sales and marketing teams with product promotional activities.
The product is what could be described as white goods which includes electrical and gas combustion so any experience in this area and of associated testing would be an advantage. A lot of the product is produced in sheet metal so this is another area we are keen to see experience. Other materials and associated manufacturing processes include plastics, rubber, foam, coatings, adhesives, electrical and gas components. We don't expect you to have experience of all of this and training will be given in some areas but candidates with broad materials experience would be very appealing.
The skills you need:
- You will need to be trained, experienced and capable in applying FMEA, DFM and DFA and other techniques to minimise risk and optimise designs.
- Both 2D and 3D CAD experience are essential, Solidworks would be preferred although we will consider other 3D packages such as Pro Engineer or similar.
- You will ideally have a good level of appreciation for manufacturing techniques and processes allowing you to consider cost drivers.
- Most products and developed or re engineered on a project basis as part of a multi disciplined team so experience of working to deadlines in what can be a pressured environment would be awesome.
You don't have to have a degree, just suitable training, relevant qualifications and relevant industry experience.
