Purchasing and Logistics Manager

General Engineering and Manufacturing

Nr Peterborough

Salary £40000 – £45000

This specialist general engineering and manufacturing firm are in a huge period of expansion and growth. The products they design, and manufacturer are used in several highly regulated sectors and are in demand because of their attention to detail, precision and quality.

Due to this growth, the Directors of the business have asked us to assist in the recruitment of a Purchasing and Logistics Manager who can work across procurement, warehousing, and supply chain.

Working closely with the senior management team, you will be responsible for all materials, goods and services that are brought and procured by the business . This also includes any in direct spend related to the infrastructure of the facilities and building.

Key areas of the position are:

Direct purchasing

  • Creation and maintenance of all materials purchase orders
  • Processing NCRs/DMRs (i.e., credit notes, material replenishment, cost reimbursing)
  • Weekly: issue of call off list
  • Weekly meetings with key and critical clients
  • Maintaining material layouts
  • stock take and reorders
  • Stock checks: organisation, processing, and reconciliation
  • Accounts: invoice reconciliation
  • Bids and tender response

Indirect purchasing

  • Control and maintenance of +40 site contracts and Service level agreement’s
  • Stock items replenishment
  • Control, maintenance, and consignment stock agreements
  • Processing of handwritten and system requisitions
  • Processing of special requisitions: i.e., gases, fuels, etc.
  • Stock control: add/remove of stock items with introduction of new technology, etc.
  • Capex - purchasing
  • Accounts: invoice reconciliation

Stores department

  • Supervision of stores department
  • Stores layout: planning, implementation, and sustainability
  • Audit activities (incl. corrective actions)
  • Development of Kanban’s
  • Consignment stocking


  • Special projects/trouble solving i.e., logistic planning, prepping relocation, etc.
  • Site mapping
  • Epicor Superuser for Purchasing and Stores (training, trouble shooting, providing, and updating of process mapping for training purposes, etc.)

We are looking for candidates that have performed similar roles within an engineering and manufacturing environment, it is a SME, and you will have the ability to get hands on with purchasing and supply chain, project managing and troubleshooting various projects and works. You will have a good appreciation of working in and around MRP systems.
