Principal Enigneer


Principal Engineer - Aerospace - Coventry - Permanent

A Principal Engineer is required with knowledge of Design for Manufacture and GD&T. Candidates with experience of the Wheels and Brakes sector would be well received.

Due to the continued success and growth of this business, a global engineering group specialising in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defence and energy markets based in the Coventry area requires a visionary and dynamic Principal Engineer for a new permanent role. As a Principal Engineer you will be:

  • Responsible for all phases of LRU product development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification/certification testing and also initial entry into service
  • Responsible for one or more LRU's on a project or across multiple projects
  • Leads development effort to ensure all program targets are satisfied
  • Responsible for maintaining Engineering Schedule for assigned LRU's
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting other key metrics through the development process
  • Maintains technical compliance matrix to ensure all agreed upon requirements are satisfied
  • Ensures qualification test plans will verify requirements
  • Prepares Internal/external design reviews as required
  • Undertakes RCCA for qualification/design/manufacture issues



The Principle Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Degree in an associated Engineering field
  • Experience or knowledge of wheels and braking systems would be advantageous but not essential
  • Product development experience including design, manufacture, testing and in-service troubleshooting/operations
  • Experience with DFM, GT&D and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes
  • Project Management skills including cost/schedule tracking
  • Experience with DFMA's and Risk Analysis
  • Good communication skills
  • Available to travel when required
