Principal Chip Design Engineer - Birmingham - Great Salary & Benefits

This is a terrific opportunity for a talented Chip Design Engineer to join this well-established manufacturer of semiconductor products. The business is in a significant period of growth and this has created the need for a Principal Chip Design Engineer (IGBT & SiC) to join the team.

The Role

This role is responsible for overall structure design of automotive power electronic products, as well as analysis and calculation during the design, define technical submissions for subunit and manage deliverable results and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept design, scheming design of automotive power electronic products, evaluate the requirements for new products and determine the design plan
  • Research new integrated technology of automotive power electronic product. Responsible for R&D, verification of new technologies, structures and promotion of product implementation
  • Responsible for structure design of product, including 3D/2D drawings of assemblies and parts, as well as analysis and calculation during the design
  • Structure related document output, definition of BOM
  • Definition of test methods, DEFMEA and formulation of documents for APQP process

Core Skills and Education requirements

  • Degree qualified in electrical, electronic, mechanical or mechatronics engineering
  • From 3 years of experience in R&D of automotive power electronic products
  • Familiarity with automotive converter structural design and manufacturing process
  • Familiarity with mechanical design principals
  • Knowledge of common plastic and metal materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Adept at using 3D modelling software such as Solid Edge
  • Knowledge of automotive APQP documentation
