Title: CAE 1D Analyst

Division: Vehicle Engineering

Contract Position based at: Gaydon

Rate: Up to £24.76 per hour

Position Description:

A CAE 1D Analyst is required to join a leading automotive OEM based in Gaydon, Warwickshire on a long term contract basis.

The 1D team within the Virtual Engineering Hub is responsible for developing core tools, leading the definition of standards, and providing general MATLAB / Simulink support to a community of ~2500 users, to enable effective collaboration across the business.

The team also supports the development of capability within CarMaker, Dymola, GT Power or similar tools) to support virtual engineering of all vehicle programmes.

As a 1D Analyst, the successful candidate will build relationships with 1D modellers in the business, support the development of analysis and simulation tools, including writing robust code within the team according to a structured development method, help guide the future simulation and analysis strategies.

Skills Required:

  • High levels of personal organisation and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Confident to communicate across all levels
  • Good team player and self-motivated

Experience Required:

  • Experience using Matlab / Simulink simulation tools

Experience Preferred:

  • Programming experience (VBA, Fortran, C++, Java) including OOP Experience of using commercial simulation products (e.g IPG CarMaker, Dymola, GT Power, AmeSim)
  • Experience of creating system models from scratch.
  • Excellent understanding of modelling theory (e.g. equations of motion, thermodynamics, numerical solvers, etc)
  • Understanding of automotive systems and technologies
  • Experience of solving complex technical issues using a structured approach with the ability to identify areas for improvement
  • A positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities

Education Required:

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent (automotive/mechanical engineering, physical sciences, or similar)
