Job Title - Powertrain Buyer

Hourly rate - up to £44 ltd

An opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to work on an exciting automotive project for this innovatine and forward thinking manufacturing company based in the South West.


Buyers within the Powertrain commodity is an exciting place to be right now, working with new technologies you will play a significant role in delivering the company's future.


As Buyer, your accountabilities will be:

- Own & manage a complex range of commodities

- Develop and deliver category strategies for a diverse range of commodities

- Fulfil departmental objectives, to include (but not limited to) cost targets, meeting FTA targets, ensuring supplier performance and delivery

- Managing Commercial terms and conditions as well as Legal compliance - particularly with regards to IP

- Support supplier visits including launch reviews

- Identify and source supply partners, in line with the departmental sourcing process and targets

- Provide cost analysis and ensure all risks and opportunities are captured and managed

- Manage the sourcing process from market research through to supplier nomination, contract award and contract management

- Support a continuous improvement program to advance procurement processes, governance and capabilities across the group



In addition to the above, you will have the following skills

- Previous experience in a direct procurement function within a manufacturing environment. Automotive would be an advantage but not essential

- Previous project management / programme management would be a bonus

- An adept cross functional team worker with a proven track record of successful stakeholder manager

- Confident, articulate and experienced working at pace in a highly dynamic and fast moving business environment

- Tenacity and drive to achieve results

- Ability to build and develop strategic supply relationships across a highly diverse range of commodities and supply markets

- Advanced negotiation and clear communication skills evidenced

- Comfortable working with various MS Office applications. Previous experience of SAP would be an advantage

- An international mindset is desirable. Previous experience working with different cultures would be an advantage

- A full Driving licence and a willingness to travel is required
