MIG/TIG Welder

Purpose:

To final weld fabricated jaw crusher mainframes and sub components to the required quality standard and to meet the production schedule.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Welding of Crusher Mainframes using High Deposition Mig Welding equipment.
  • Inspection of completed work using Magnetic Particle Testing. (MPI) and measuring equipment.
  • Tig dressing of completed Mainframes.
  • Shotblast of Mainframes
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings, particularly welding symbols.
  • Understanding of Lean Principles & methodology.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and able to use own initiative
  • Complying with current and future Health & Safety laws, processes and procedures
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate to the role

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Experienced in welding within a heavy engineering environment
  • Coded to BSEN 287 or equivalent using high deposition welding equipment (If not currently coded, capable and willing to undertake the coding / testing)
  • Overhead pendant operated crane license (Ideally, but if not, have experience as training would be given)
  • Slinging training / license (Ideally, but if not, have experience as training would be given)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Motivated self-starter with an eye for detail
  • Ability to drive improvements
  • Ability to meet given targets
  • Knowledge of H & S procedures & responsibilities.
  • Any knowledge, ability or skill in the use / programming of robotic welding equipment would be advantageous.

Conversant with all types of grinding, sanding and cutting tooling whether air or electrically driven.Purpose:
