My Client is a leader in precision investment castings for aerospace, industrial gas turbine and engineering markets for customers such as Rolls Royce, Siemens, Safran, Cobham and ABB.

The site employs around 130 people and is situated in the beautiful Somerset countryside, within easy commuting distance from Ilminster, Taunton, Axminster, Yeovil, Exeter, Langport, and the surrounding areas.

The Role

My engineering client produce high quality, equiax precision invest casting in nickel and cobalt exotic alloys as well as many other traditional materials. We are looking for an experienced Metallurgist to lead our site in delivering complex metallurgical products to a variety of customers worldwide.

You will use your expertise to support within the foundry and castings environment, conducting important examinations of both production parts and new products in line with customer specifications.

You will demonstrate your leadership skills to manage the Laboratory on site, from master melt clearance to subcontract management. On a day to day basis you will perform metallographic examinations, review and approve all metallurgical submission, develop training opportunities for the laboratory team, and develop strong relationships with our customers and suppliers reviewing contracts and implementing site wide continuous improvement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Metallurgist.



Ideal applicants will have experience in a hot metal environment having completed studies in Metallurgy/ Material Science with exposure to a foundry environment.

In this demanding and diverse role, you will be working with products which have exposure to welding, pyrometry and mechanical testing, so an awareness of theses functions would be advantageous. As would an awareness of the heat treatment processes.
