Materials Test Engineer - Worcestershire - Competitive - Permanent

A Materials Test Engineer is required to join the Materials Team within a market leading innovative company that Manufacture Aerospace and Defence products. The Materials Test Engineer will work within the engineering team and report to the test and evaluation manager.

The role will cover Materials Testing and evaluation where relevant experience in material science is required and the successful Materials Test Engineer will work as part of the wider team on all phases of the project life cycle including design, demonstration, development, production and customer support. The Materials Test Engineer will conduct testing on material and components, working with design data to verify performance.

Materials Test Engineer - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Construct material test matrices for development, qualification and production proof
  • Conduct materials surveillance, investigations, and material qualifications
  • Prepare and conduct tests and trials in accordance with current and future processes
  • Knowledge of general Material tests (Tensile testing, DMTA, DSC, TMA, Bond testing)
  • Materials analysis to determine mechanical properties
  • Trend analysis of material batch's mechanical properties
  • Understand inert, energetic and bonding material behaviour and failure modes
  • Develop new material test techniques
  • Provide input to technical and customer reports
  • Advise on equipment setup and upgrades
  • Available to consult on all projects and relevant investigations
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Legislation, Risk Assessments, and COSHH

Technical Skills and Experience Required for Materials Test Engineer

  • Educated with a relevant Materials Science degree or equivalent
  • Experience in materials test and evaluation
  • 1-3 years minimum industry experience
  • Strong mathematical and physics capability
  • Interpersonal, good problem-solving, self-motivated and a team player
  • The ability to multitask and a proficient and confident communicator
