A Materials Planning and Logistics (MPL) Manager is required to take responsibility and be accountable for materials planning and logistics operations. Candidates with experience of inventory, stock, distribution and replenishment planning of materials and products would be well received.

Due to increased workloads this company, an award-winning transmission technology specialist based in Thatcham, requires a proactive Materials Planning and Logistics (MPL) Manager to provide leadership, management and coordination to the 'make or buy' planning, purchasing and inventory control departments. As a Materials Planning and Logistics (MPL) Manager you will be required to:

  • Manage direct reports and work closely with the associated teams that deliver continuous improvement, added value and cost reduction
  • Ensure perpetual and annual stock checks are undertaken and audited
  • Ensure that product lead-times are understood and that strategies to manage are deployed and effective
  • Analyse data and trends in order to develop replenishment and inventory reduction strategies
  • Prepare, hold and manage the annual MP and L budget and forecasts
  • Ensure that plans, schedules and performance metrics are developed, published and regularly reported

The Materials Planning and Logistics (MPL) Manager should have the following skills or experience:

  • Ideally degree qualified in a relevant commercial or engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ qualification
  • Preferably a Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or similar
  • Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing processes
  • Strong IT systems knowledge including knowledge and understanding of specialist systems including Excel
  • Proven experience of leading MP and L within an automotive and/or manufacturing environment with expert knowledge and understanding of automotive processes and components and of supply chain management
