Manufacturing Production Support

Salary circa £26,000 plus benefits

This business is a well-known and well-run general engineering and manufacturing business. They work with several European manufacturing OEM’s.

They have seen a good demand in their products across the sectors they are working in and have asked us to recruit an excellent Manufacturing Production Support Coordinator to assist in the smooth operation and organisation of one of their production cells.

This role needs you to understand manufacturing and production in a SME environment, you will use your organisational skills to help the Manufacturing Manager in the smooth operation of the cell. There will be an element of administration and data capture to help create efficiencies and better running of the operation.

The role could suit either a Team Leader or Warehouse Team Leader who is looking to make a move into operational and production management, as there is an element of understanding production and product flow through a manufacturing plant, including stock levels, inventory, and simple Kanban at line side.

Job Purpose

  • Support Production lead in achieving required performance levels.
  • Implement and maintain improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Introduce and maintain 5S standards.
  • Ensure parts availability for smooth process flow.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Organises and takes ownership of parts storage in area.
  • Implements and maintains 5S in the area.
  • Organisation of materials into and out of the area
  • Support production lead in achieving customer requirements and on time delivery.
  • Provide updates at daily production meetings on WIP status.
  • Ensures all stock/WIP transactions are correctly booked on MRP system.
  • Identify and determine corrective action for stock shortages.
  • Liaising with stores to ensure that Kanban parts are replenished regularly.
  • Management of waste materials in work area
  • Supports manufacturing team in achieving quick and accurate stock counts at month end and year end.
  • Advise production lead of issues.
  • Support and recommend improvement activities.
  • Update and maintain visual aids and update production leads where necessary of shortages.
  • Liaise with subcontract and raise purchase orders for paint operations.
  • Kit parts for the next stage of the production process.
  • Load and unload vehicles when required.
  • Promote safe working.

Qualifications required/ desirable

  • FLT license.

Experience required / desirable

  • Experience within department or company of similar background.
  • Key technical skills in core business areas (ERP Systems, Storage, Process development)
  • Experience of lean manufacturing techniques within an SME.
  • Warehousing
  • Microsoft Excel
  • 5S
