An experienced Manufacturing Engineer (Machining) is required to join an automotive OEM.

Contract Position based at: Whitley & EMC Wolverhampton + Potential International Travel

Position Description:

Manufacturing Engineer (Machining)

This role will provide engineering and technical support to design, develop and implement manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products within the Power Train Organisation, ensuring feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing process / machining requirements, Design for Manufacture (DFM) and compliance with the Bill of Process (BOP).

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the procurement and management of multiple machine tools & assembly systems covering a wide range of processes including: Various metal cutting processes (e.g. grinding, milling, drilling / reaming, grinding, honing, boring, gear cutting etc)
  • Various test operations such as balancing, leak testing & in-line gauging
  • Various automated and manual assembly operations.
  • A variety of Washing and cleanliness technology for our product.
  • Work within a team responsible for installing, commissioning and launching machining production facilities at plants worldwide.
  • Work to achieve the development of standardised process strategies and procedures for replication within Global Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering
  • Identifying and driving robust resolution of product design manufacturing feasibility & manufacturing process issues
  • Introducing innovative new technologies into our manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality & cost metrics
  • Driving continuous improvements in investment efficiency, process stability and robustness, flexibility & manufacturing cost per unit within and between engine programs

Skills Required:

3 KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Have experience in the procurement and management of multiple machine tools &/or assembly systems covering a wide range of processes such as: Various metal cutting processes (e.g. grinding, milling, drilling / reaming, grinding, honing, boring, gear cutting etc); Various test operations such as balancing, leak testing & in-line gauging; Various automated and manual assembly operations. A variety of Washing and cleanliness technology for our product.
  2. Be experienced in identifying and driving robust resolution of product design manufacturing feasibility & manufacturing process issues
  3. Be capable of introducing innovative new technologies into our manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality & cost metrics to strict programme timing.

Experience Required:

  • Experience in machining and programme management / delivery.
  • Must be able to work within a team of highly motivated manufacturing engineers

Education Required:

Would benefit from having a HNC / HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline, or have extensive metal cutting experience.
