Manufacturing Engineer - Permanent - Birmingham - £Competitive Salary DOE

I am seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a client who are a key supplier to the automotive industry providing a broad range of high-quality roof systems being a market leader in their field

The Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing areas, including layout, procurement of equipment, production planning and new product introduction (NPI)

This is a permanent position based in Birmingham and is offering a competitive salary & benefits.

What You Will Do:

As Manufacturing Engineer;

  • Responsible for the effectiveness, quality and cost of all objectives set from Management
  • Assisting Production with of Key Performance Indicators, Machine Availability, Productivity and OLE etc.
  • To develop modern production engineering techniques within the framework of project teams and central standards, including advanced product quality planning activities
  • To develop the working methods for assembly and put the appropriate systems in place for control, poke-yoke and capability etc
  • To be responsible and to plan the layout of the manufacturing area to ensure optimum efficiency
  • To set, evaluate and review production targets using modern manufacturing techniques
  • Improve and optimise the process to reduce costs of manufacturing, increase yield, improve product quality and manufacturing consistency
  • To continually work to eliminate non-value-added activities and enforce Continuous Improvement

What You Will Need:

As Manufacturing Engineer;

  • Degree qualified Engineer or equivalent with relevant experience in medium to high volume manufacturing environment preferably within the 1st Tier Automotive Industry
  • Experience in efficiency improvements and optimising production lines
  • Familiar with Lean, Continuous improvement or Six Sigma methodology
  • Failure identification and root cause analysis as well as actioning plans to remedy failures
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing skills
  • Ability to work independently, to prioritise and resolve problems under pressure
