A competent and driven Manufacturing Engineer is required to support manufacturing areas, with the ability to design layouts, procure equipment, support production planning, manage new product introduction and optimise processes. Working in a high-volume assembly production area, candidates with experience of working in the Automotive industry would be very well received.

Due to the current engineering team's growth this company, a leading automotive supplier requires a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with proven manufacturing engineering experience for a new permanent role.

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be required to:

  • Develop project plans to industrialise significant new products, by working closely with design, prototyping and manufacturing departments.
  • Manage the implementation of the plans across the organisation, through customer approvals to volume production.
  • Develop and define new manufacturing processes and control documentation to facilitate the introduction of new products and to improve efficiency of existing products.
  • Develop cost targets (including process times) for new product and equipment introductions, and manage plans to ensure these are achieved in volume production.
  • Introduce modern manufacturing techniques and drive best practice process.
  • Support the development of a modern continuous improvement and lean manufacturing culture across the organisation.
  • Technical support to the Production team on process for new/existing products.
  • Experience of high volume manufacturing and automation.

The Manufacturing Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • A degree or equivalent in engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully introducing new products into a manufacturing environment, ensuring a 'no faults forward' approach.
  • Experience and knowledge of industry standard approaches to risk management, including DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Has worked in a regulated environment, ideally automotive, with experience of IATF 16949 and APQP.
  • Experience of a variety of manufacturing techniques, metal forming processes and their associated costs and benefits.
  • Experience of high volume manufacturing and automation.
  • Experience of introducing process improvements into an established manufacturing process.
