Role: Maintenance Engineer

Salary: up to £40,000

Location: Stoke on Trent

Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Shifts: 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm / 10pm - 6am (or you can work a permanent Night Shift)

Overtime: Available

Summary of the role: Maintenance Engineer

  • To maintain and repair all plant machinery and equipment to the highest possible standard using pro-active methods such as Predictive, Preventative, and Corrective maintenance.
  • Project work to improve plant efficiency.
  • To be flexible around working pattern where required to support departmental holiday and sickness cover.
  • Shift work to cover three shifts and additional/optional weekend working as required.

Core Responsibilities: Maintenance Engineer

  • Ensure breakdowns are responded to in a timely manner and any follow up actions are carried out.
  • Improving equipment as part of the Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Ensure Maintenance records and work database (SAP) are kept up to date.
  • Attend and conduct shift handovers to discuss the daily and ongoing work.
  • Carry out planned maintenance work against TPM plan.
  • Contribute to the improvement and development of the planned maintenance system.
  • Organise and liaise with contractors, raising permits to work when and where required.
  • Identify root causes of deficits and manage the achievement of relevant corrective actions.
  • Work flexibly and carry out additional duties as required.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and the ability to fault find and interrogate PLC Systems, HMI's, DC drives, Inverter controls, and safety control systems (mainly Siemens / Mitsubishi).
  • Knowledge and competent in fault finding on electrical, pneumatic, steam, and hydraulic control systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of ABB 6 axis robots is desirable.
  • Good, sound mechanical / electrical engineering background, i.e. an understanding of manufacturing processes, (automotive experience an advantage).
  • Comprehensive understanding of equipment- electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and their limitations etc.
  • Proficient in general mechanical tasks i.e. replace bearings, drive belts, motors, gear boxes, and cylinders etc
  • Welding and m/c shop skills advantageous in this Maintenance Engineer role

Additional Requirements:Maintenance Engineer

  • Able to understand 'modern engineering philosophies', for example Kaizen, Poke Yoke, 5's, standardised work, FMEA, ISO14001, IATF16949 etc
  • BTEC Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent - HNC or above preferred
