Are you a Research Engineer with experience in battery assembly and manufacturing techniques interested in working for one of the leading technology innovators in the world? We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer with a background in materials and processes used in batteries and energy storage technology to join the team in a brand-new state of the art R&D facility based in Wiltshire. As a Lead Research Engineer (Battery), your day-to-day responsibilities will consist of;

  • Develop custom materials and components for cells, enabling the next generation of the companies products.
  • Be responsible for maintenance, and delivery of quality components, cells and associated results across the engineering lifecycle.  
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to scale materials from discovery to prototype cells. 
  • manual and semi-automated assembly and materials processing alongside continuous improvement to carry out and optimise processes that provide prototype cells for testing.
  • Be responsible for quality, from traceability to characterisation to advance materials and cell performance.
  • Take a leading role in new product introduction, liaise with other teams in cell design and testing to ensure a smooth introduction within cell prototyping. Create/Design and improve prep methods, work instructions and SOP’s accordingly.
  • Drive continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma)

An exciting opportunity for an Experienced Lead Research Engineer (Battery) with the following.

  • Degree educated with practical experience relevant to assembly and battery manufacturing techniques (roll-to-roll coating and converting techniques such as slitting and calendaring)
  • Relevant industrial experience. For example, a background in the battery or energy storage industry
  • Practical experience leading teams
  • Practical experience of handling hazardous materials and use of protective equipment
  • Experience of a quality driven research environment,
