Rate: Up to £709.54 per day Ltd

We require a Lead Developer/AWS Engineer in Farnborough to work within an Agile team, using your skills to support the move of applications from ‘on premise’ technologies to the Public Cloud. This will allow for some hybrid working between the office and remote.

The IT department is a central function which provides services to three businesses and supports a vast number of applications to enable the businesses to work as efficiently and as profitably as possible. The landscape is very mixed, from legacy mainframe applications to JAVA technologies hosted within a Private Cloud. Currently there is a transition to replace the legacy applications with newer modern technologies utilising private and public cloud (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.

As the AWS Engineer/Lead Developer you will be responsible for:

• The Sales, Aftersales and Finance functions, however, could be assigned other tasks within any area of the IT team.
• A project to move of our web applications into the Public Cloud - with several legacy web applications and modern OpenShift applications which need to move into the public Cloud, either a lift and shift or a full application re-architecture and re-write.
• Support the high-level planning and then carry forward into the detailed planning of the application migration and lead in the technologies which will be required within AWS.
• Ensure that our DevOps provider is utilising the correct skills and resource to undertake this migration task and provide the relevant guidance.

As the AWS Engineer Lead you should have the following skills/experiences/competencies:

• Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 7+, JPA / JTA / JAX-RS / CDI / EJB, Angular front end, Containerisation (Docker/OpenShift), Micro-Services Architecture (JSON Web Services and Eclipse MicroProfile), Automated Testing (Cucumber/Rest-Assured/Junit), Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube), Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, AWS Toolset (VPC, EKS, ECR).
• AWS Toolset (Glue, S3, Athena), Payara Application Server, NodeJS and Angular, Agile Toolchain (Confluence / Jira / X-Ray / BitBucket) would be beneficial.
• Experience in a development role, of working within as a senior developer within an DevOps team, and of working with offshore development teams.
• Experience of migrating applications into the Public Cloud.
• Full Lifecycle development to include input into user story development, application/ solution design, automated deployments and infrastructure procurement and fault management.
