Position Title: Lead Chassis Engineer
Rate: Up to £36.00 per hour
Degree or equivalent in Design/ Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
At least ten years of Design and Development experience in Engineering Vehicle Chassis Systems in a Low volume manufacturing environment.
Demonstrable history in Chassis System Engineering having completed and released full systems and components into commercially available platforms.
Ability to perform analysis and calculations in order to develop working, mass and cost efficient designs on time.
Current and working knowledge of Chassis System regulations and standards.
Working knowledge of materials, processes and environmental considerations required to achieve durable system designs.
Management of a small team.
Full product lifecycle experience.
Previous responsibility for delivering chassis system designs to a low volume vehicle programme.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES & DUTIES
Management of Chassis Engineering team for current programme and future programmes.
Responsibility and focal point for all Chassis related Engineering issues on current and future platforms.
Specification of Chassis systems and components.
Delivery of Engineered Chassis System designs.
Development and Maintenance of Chassis CAD package and BOM.
Generation of Design Specifications, management of 2D drawings and design data.
Develop Project Timing and delivery schedule for System Parts and Functionality.
Release Approval for components and Systems to Specification.
Scoping of outsourced Engineering activities.
Supplier Management - Outsource Engineering and Part Development.
Team Workload Planning and Prioritisation.
Management reporting as required.
Provision of Build Support for area of amphibian responsibility.
Test Planning and DVP Sign-Off responsibility.
Support FMEA and related documentation development.
Provide Budget input for department and manage spend accordingly.
Manage change within scope of System.
Support Recruitment activities within System area.
Other duties as assigned, some that may be outside experience base.
Customer oriented (internal and external).
Hands-on mechanical skills and experience with Automotive or related vehicles and systems.
Excellent problem solving skills
Proficient regarding organisational and time management skills.
Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), with the ability to create detailed status reports, measureables and timelines.
Appreciation of Engineering good practice with regard to project processes and CAD system data management.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
