IT Generalist and Network Engineer - Barton-Under-Needwood

A skilled IT generalist with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Line support is required urgently for a prestigious Automotive supplier.

You must be able to commute to the Burton-On-Trent/Barton-Under-Needwood areas and able to work in the UK.


You will be responsible for both proactive and reactive IT support, configuration and system documentation in a highly diverse production environment providing timely resolutions to user and business requirements. Working knowledge of ITIL (incident and problem management and change management) is a must. Strong communication skills and the ability to present high quality concise documentation for colleagues and end users. You will be able to demonstrate Project management and organisational skills. Someone who keeps up to date with technology you will contribute new ideas and techniques.

* Providing 1st/2nd/3rd line IT support to end users with technical queries, troubleshooting helpdesk tickets via email, telephone or in person.
* Ensure the correctness and efficiency of the local technical infrastructure, reporting and escalating issues at the earliest point and taking action where necessary.
* Provide 100% up time for plant sequencing systems.
* Support, Maintain site Server/Network Infrastructure.
* Provide Support and assistance to system users via the IT Helpdesk facility.
* Maintain the addition and deletion of users and maintenance of user permissions
* Control and Administer IT hardware asset register
* Completing tasks and projects assigned by the UK Regional IT Manager within given time frames and taking a proactive approach to finding solutions to problems.
* Ensure the correctness and efficiency of the local technical infrastructure, reporting and escalating issues at the earliest point and taking action where necessary.
* Provide 100% up time for plant sequencing systems.
* Support, Maintain and continuously improve Server Infrastructure.
* Provide Support and assistance to system users via the IT Helpdesk facility.

  • The ideal candidate will have a computing related degree, although this is not essential. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, who must have worked within 1st and 2nd line support role in the automotive or manufacturing Industry.
  • Good working knowledge of the following:
  • Microsoft Applications.
  • Experience with Active Directory, GPO, DNS , DHCP
  • Windows Server (2008/2012R2/2016) support
  • Windows 7/8/10 desktop support
  • Zebra Printers and Label Printing
  • Experience with cabling and installing physical network infrastructure CAT5e/CAT6
  • Familiar with handheld scanners such as Datalogic/Motorola
  • SQL Server 2008/2012 Databases
  • CCENT / CCNA
  • MCSE/MCITP
