Interior Designer - Warwickshire - Long term contract

Position Description:

The position reports to the Interior Design Manager - Realisation Interiors.

Our clients are the World Class organization responsible for delivering the current range of award winning production and concept vehicles. They have responsibility for the creation and delivery of all visible parts on the exterior, interior and colour and materials of all their vehicles.

The Design team is multi-disciplined, with Designers, Engineers, Clay and Alias Sculptors and the Surfacing team. Designers are responsible for the creative processes at the earliest stage of a project, through to the co-ordination of feasible solutions, releases to tooling, and monitoring designs through to production.

The role of an Interior Designer is highly creative, being involved in the creation of new designs and the development of solutions to design problems for the interiors of our future vehicles.

The solutions must meet strategic objectives set by and agreed with the Chief Designer and Studio Director.

The Creative Designer acts frequently as a deputy to the interior design manager and can be expected to attend relevant meetings and events to support the development of our future interior designs.

The Creative Designer will regularly interface with Design Project Managers, Studio Engineers, Clay and CAS modellers, Studio Engineers and Team Leaders; as well as teams outside of design in order to effectively aid the delivery of our future products. The role requires a clear ability to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions. This requires the highest of skills in illustration, visual evaluation and aesthetic judgement of digital and clay surfaces. A Creative Designer must be able to invent/create new and novel ideas and challenge conventional thinking in problem solving. The position requires a good level of practical engineering knowledge to negotiate and agree solutions with development engineers.

Skills Required:

  1. First class creative and conceptualisation skills with broad knowledge of engineering and production techniques and processes
  2. Ability to visualize and communicate design solutions in 2D and 3D
  3. Excellent verbal and written skills Interest in next gen UI and UX developments

Experience Required:

  • Generation of designs for production and concept vehicles
  • Good knowledge of automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness
  • Proven ability as a team member Experience of physical model delivery
