Health & Safety Coordinator - Contractor Planner

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Industry/Sector: Warehouse Distribution

A Contractor Planner is required with excellent Health & Safety skills and good knowledge of conducting audits. Candidates with experience of working within a Facilities department would be well received.

You will be accountable to ensure all risk assessment and method statements are completed and submitted, meeting their environment and H&S requirements prior to contractors attending site. You will issue and oversee Permits to work, ensuring all are in place before contractors commence the work. The role also requires you to carry out appropriate levels of supervision of contractors, ensuring the completed work is checked and permits are signed off.

As a Contractor Planner, you will be required to:

  • Have responsibility for compiling and streamlining all the audits, providing metrics as necessary
  • Demonstrate a "Health and Safety first" attitude with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation knowledge
  • Document all risk assessments and method statements of planned and completed work done by all contractors.
  • Be responsible for issuing all Permits to work, ensuring they are in place before work commences.
  • Supervise work carried out by contractors ensuring work is carried out safely at all times.

The Contractor Planner should have the following skills or experience:

  • Demonstrate a "Health and Safety first" attitude with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation knowledge
  • Computer literate: able to confidently use Excel and central computer systems to at least Basic level
  • Relevant experience of Influencing and working effectively with people to achieve project objectives: has confidence managing people and having difficult conversations with 3rd parties over exacting standards
  • Self-Managing person with the ability to plan and manage priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to all levels of the business.
  • Ability to maintain a professional image and approach at all times.
