Founded almost 80 years ago, the group turnover £200m per year and are the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom working with many of the leading names in retail, manufacturing, transport, property, construction, local and national government and professional services. They employ more than 1,000 people and between them, their factories process more than 1,000 tonnes of steel each week

They are now looking for a Head of Supply Chain to lead the Supply Chain activities across the group. Reporting to the UK Fulfilment Director, you will manage a team of four commodity managers, two buyers and one administrator over multiple plants within a SAP ERP environment developing capability and driving towards the shared company goals.

The new Head of Supply Chain will help define and implement the group Supply Chain Strategy with focus on cost reduction, supply chain risk and professional procedures. You will oversee the management of key strategic defined commodities in line with QCD processes including negotiation, forecasting and research of alternative sources, value engineering and make v buy decisions.

About the role

  • Working within the UK fulfilment team to facilitate sales support, customer service and enhance P&L performance of the group business units
  • Annual spend of £120M across raw material, components and sub-contracting for 6 UK manufacturing plants plus direct to project site material
  • Group indirect spend of £15M (Utilities for nine UK sites, group fleet hire, MRO, capital equipment)
  • Managing a team of four commodity managers, two buyers and one administrator over multiple plants within a SAP ERP environment
  • Forecasting, planning and scheduling of raw material and components to support manufacturing production plans and project site installation programs
  • Ensuring stock availability to meet customer delivery within agreed lead-times
  • Supply chain risk monitoring and mitigation and the delivery of budgeted cost reduction plans
  • Project pre-qualification and bid support

About you

  • Experienced Supply Chain Manager
  • Have experience of steel based commodities
  • Strong negotiator
  • Good level of SAP/ERP knowledge
  • Supply Chain Data Analysis & Excel Skills
  • Best Practice Supply Chain Processes Ideally CIPS / MCIPS
