Functional Safety Engineer - Chassis - Lichfield - £ Competitive + Excellent benefits

A Functional Safety Engineer is required for a flourishing department at the forefront of automotive design and development. The successful candidate will contribute to the engineering of high performance systems for innovative applications including sports cars and special-purpose vehicles.

As Functional Safety Engineer - Chassis you will

Develop and promote the company product safety strategy and functional safety policy.

Develop internal processes aligned to ISO26262 and provide guidance relating to the implementation of the relevant standard to all departments.

Lead group hazard analysis activities using techniques such as HAZOP and Hazard Checklists as well as perform HARAs in alignment with ISO26262.

Prepare and moderate dFMEA and FTA activities.

Support design engineering teams to assure ISO26262 compliance.

Perform Product Safety Architecture activities, including Functional Safety Requirements and Technical Safety Requirements.

Perform validation activities required to confirm correct implementation of Functional Safety Requirements.

Compile and present Safety Case and Safety Release documentation and hold safety reviews, both with customers and internally.

As Functional Safety Engineer - Chassis you will have

A Degree in an appropriate science or engineering discipline.

Proven experience in a similar role within a research and/or development environment.

An understanding of modern automotive systems and common automotive practices;

Experience in model based systems engineering methods and tools (e.g. PREEvision, Rhapsody etc.);

Experience of requirements analysis and management, preferably using dedicated requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Cradle, MKS);

Good test and analysis skills and a high level of proficiency at written and verbal communication.

The ability to work unsupervised and capable of contributing to multiple activities simultaneously.
