Role: Estimator

Location: Redditch

Permanent Role


We are currently recruiting for a permanent Estimator to work for our client at their site in the Redditch area, the role will be undertaking proposals and tendering activities to maintain and develop the company's sales, in accordance with agreed business plans, company processes, procedures and systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake proposal document production and the development / compilation of all proposal information (including but not limited to BOQs, letters, activity schedules, programmes, histogrammes, organograms, risk registers, MTOs, safety documentation, returnable schedules, TA sheets and other documentation as required)
  • To offer support and guidance to other departmental members
  • Preparation and maintenance of standardised tender EOI's and pre-qualifications
  • Preparation of documentation for Tender submission
  • Preparing documentation for Bid / No Bid process
  • Preparation of tender pricing / costs
  • Participate in Risk Workshop meetings, storyboard meetings, USP meetings
  • Undertake site visits, visits to clients premises as required
  • Review customer ITT and definition of customer / tender requirements, dissemination of same to all relevant internal parties
  • Preparation and issue of necessary enquiries for sub-contract goods and services
  • Assessment of all sub-contract and supplier quotations / tenders
  • Assist in negotiations in conjunction with and resulting from tender submission
  • Assist with marketing reports when required
  • Participate in Internal Tender Handover Meetings
  • Assist in updating rate schedules
  • Departmental reporting, communication and liaison
  • Health and Safety adherence
  • Manage all PMI / SNI in accordance with RNL security procedures
  • Self development and continuing personal development
  • Appropriate administration
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required and as are commensurate with the grade of the post

Experience and Skills:


  • Experience in the preparation of EOI's / pre-qualifications / tenders / reports,
  • Excellent communicational skills (written & verbal English)
  • Excellent numeracy skills, understanding accounting principles
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, outlook, project and powerpoint)
  • Fast and accurate document preparation
  • Knowledge of construction / engineering techniques, practices and the requirements involved with working on nuclear licensed sites
  • Understand the elements of the proposals process
  • Be customer focused, ability to interpret customer requirements throughout all industries
  • Have good time management skills
  • Knowledge of NEC3 Contract suite
  • Have the ability to work on more than one project at a time, and switch between projects as demands dictate


  • Experience in estimating application, engineering qualification / degree.
