Technical Project Manager (EMC) - Defence Systems - Permanent - West Midlands

A Technical Project Manager is required within a Safety Critical Systems Technology Company. The successful Technical Project Manager Special Projects will join a specialised team in this sector and will report to the Special Projects Team Leader

The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for responsible for a wide variety of EMC technical delivery and development tasks. These will include the generation and implementation of technical procedures/documentation for current & future customers.

The Technical Project Manager will be testing and reporting for defence vehicle & component programmes in accordance with legislation. The Technical Project Manager will be working within the Special Projects Team to ensure that technical delivery across the department is maintained.

Responsibilities for the Technical Project Manager (EMC)

  • Preparation and technical review of documentation/policies/procedures
  • Planning and delivery of multiple projects and Management of all customer deliverables
  • Technical and commercial lead for projects under your control
  • Management of all customer deliverables and execute project delivery
  • Accurate financial control through project budgets, tracking and reporting
  • Drive department improvements through delivery of internal projects
  • Utilise Key Performance Indicators to demonstrate improvements made to processes
  • Customer liaison and technical sales with problem resolution and product awareness
  • Deliver support to test facility staff as directed by the EMC Technical Manager
  • Maintain detailed and accurate test records in accordance with requirements
  • Perform quality checks and data analysis on test deliverables
  • Resolution of test or project issues (where required)
  • Perform project reviews and lessons learned on technically-biased projects
  • Business development technical support, specifically for the Defence product sector
  • Generate and deliver continuous improvement projects to further enhance the department
  • Support flexible working practises where business demands are required

Person Profile and Skill Set for the Technical Project Manager (EMC)

  • A Degree Education or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Relevant skills with emphasis on technical delivery and EMC problem resolution
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness, tasking and accountability and timely delivery
  • Excellent understanding of the principles behind EMC test specifications and procedures
  • Demonstrate technical delivery to include test plans and control plans
  • Strong analytical, planning, organisational, and time management skills
  • Proven background in process improvement and problem resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, particularly where technical information
  • Ability to train others, to enhance their skillsets with your knowledge
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to deliver all work in accordance with UKAS / ISO 17025 / relevant standards
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • EMC/RF test experience with a bias towards defence applications
  • Understanding and generation of Risk Assessment requirements and EMC test standards
  • Understanding of Defence standards for both UK & Worldwide for Defence
  • Good RF / EM testing skills and Understanding of electrical powertrains
  • EMC Project Engineering and Defence or Automotive electrical / electronic background
  • Security clearance will be required for this position due to the nature of the products
