Embedded Firmware Engineer/Developer

My client is a dynamic, forward-thinking subsidiary of a global organisation and are seeking additional talent for their growing business.

They develop cutting edge IoT technology that is fuelling the digitisation of their industry. The company is based in Daresbury, Cheshire. We are seeking an adaptable and talented Electronics Engineers to develop and support our unique Telematics solution.

Working within their hardware engineering team, this is a unique opportunity with huge potential to carve out a significant role within a global organisation.

The successful candidate must have experience of developing software for embedded systems with a proven track record of delivering high quality, robust software.

The suitable candidate for Embedded Firmware Engineer/Developer will need to possess the following competences:

  • C or C++
  • Embedded development environments such as Rowley, Keil or AIR.
  • I2C and SPI
  • A good understanding of DMA
  • GSM modems and GPS/GNSS modules
  • Memory organisation of embedded systems including memory-mapped peripherals, RAM and Flash.
  • Experience with optimising code for low power consumption.
  • Optimising code for size and speed.
  • Understanding of typical toolchains including pre-processor, compiler, optimiser and linker.
  • Basic soldering such as being able to attach to PCB test points.
  • Comfortable using an oscilloscope to measure signals for debugging.
  • Debugging via JTAG.
